Hibernia Atlantic UK operations are situated in Southport on the North West coast of England, beside the world famous Royal Birkdale Golf links.

This major economic communications breakthrough now means that the North West Region has direct access onto highly competitive North American telecom networks through major interconnecting 'market place' exchanges in New York, Boston & Canada.

The region now also links directly into the Irish Telecommunications network through our International Exchange in Dublin.

This new corporate connectivity will serve to dramatically increase the strategic significance of operations located within the region. With this advanced cost effective communications capability now available, it means that organisations can share and distribute information based workloads across the Atlantic.

This ensures the parent company maintains the same levels of controls, collaboration and information exchanges as if these tasks were being performed in the same locality of their headquarters.

Prior to Hibernia Atlantic's launch in 2003 there was no direct high capacity cable system linking the North West of England directly to the North American continent.

North West located operations can now feasibly achieve greater productivity by building 'follow the sun' shared working regimes, particularly for time critical research and development projects.

UK / USA communications are historically generally transmitted down to London and then transferred onto UK /USA cable systems that go out through Cornwall and across the Atlantic.

This placed the North West at a great operational disadvantage as the speed (latency) of the network brought about by the physically longer route and time delays associated with switching across telecom systems, The effect of these delays meant that the region would be precluded from using many of the emerging CTI capabilities.
