BJARNI K. THORVARDARSON

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Mr. Bjarni Thorvardarson is the CEO of Hibernia Atlantic since January 2005.  Mr. Thorvardarson joined CVC, Hibernia’s parent company, in 2002 from ISB bank where he launched and managed the listed Talenta-Technology fund which focused on emerging communication and IT opportunities. Prior work experience includes investment banking at FBA bank, management of an MIS department and European Sales Director of an IT company. Mr. Thorvardarson holds an M.Sc. degree in Engineering from UW-Madison, an MBA from ISG in Paris and an M.Sc. in Finance from London Business School. Mr. Thorvardarson serves on the board of One Communications, Magnet Networks.

ERIC GUTSHALL

EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF SALES & MARKETING

Mr. Gutshall has over 16 years experience in the Telecommunications sector. He is a successful results-oriented professional, with a proven track record of success in sales and sales management across a wide variety of corporate, carrier and wholesale customers. His broad knowledge of the international and domestic wholesale telecommunications industry is widely recognized across the market and around the globe.

 

Mr. Gutshall was an Executive Director of Global Sales and Channel Management at Tyco Telecommunications (TSSL). He was with Tyco Telecommunications since early 2000. Eric held senior roles in Sales, Business Development, and Channel Management. He was based at the company’s headquarters in Morristown, N.J.  Eric’s team managed to grow Tyco to over 102 global customers and prepare the organization for sale to VSNL in 2004.

 

Prior to working with Tyco Telecom, Mr. Gutshall was with MCI Telecommunications in lower Manhattan’s Financial District where he was Branch Director. Eric managed sales units within MCI selling International Private Lines and Domestic infrastructure since the early 1990’s. Located at the heart of Wall Street, his teams sold to Carriers and High-End Multi-National corporations worldwide. Eric also held numerous sales positions within MCI where he was recognized for his record breaking performances.

 

Mr. Gutshall has a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Management from the College of Applied Professional Sciences, The University of South Carolina, Columbia, South Carolina (USC).

JOHN PITTENGER

VICE PRESIDENT OF FINANCE

John Pittenger joined Hibernia Atlantic in August 2007. Prior to joining Hibernia, John served as Senior Vice President and Treasurer of One Communications Corp, a competitive carrier serving over 150,000 business customers in the northeast sector of the United States.

Prior to One Communications, John had served as the Chief Financial Officer of CTC Communications Corp. since 1989. We first got to know John at CTC when CVC acquired the company in 2003. John had managed the company’s transition from an agent for telecommunication providers to a facility based carrier. John has extensive experience in communicating with Wall Street; as the CFO of CTC he took the company public. John holds an MBA from Babson College Graduate School of Business and an undergraduate degree in Economics from Dartmouth College.

 

ROBERT MCMANN

VICE PRESIDENT OF PROVISIONING & PROCUREMENT 

Robert McMann joined Hibernia Atlantic in January 2007 and currently serves as the Vice President of Provisioning & Procurement. Prior to Hibernia Atlantic, Mr. McMann was the Director of Operations at KeySpan Communications, a regional competitive access provider. He was responsible for the specification, design, procurement, installation, operation, and maintenance of all Fiber Optic Network Equipment including SONET/SDH multiplexors and DWDM systems. Additionally, Mr. McMann was very active in the business development and strategic planning efforts, and led the development of strategic, vertical markets including Finance, Research and Education.

Prior to joining KeySpan Communications, Mr. McMann was the supervisor of wireless communications for KeySpan Energy. He was responsible for all VHF, UHF, ISM Band, Microwave, and Satellite systems for the various operating divisions on a 24x7x365 basis. Mr. McMann also held lead engineering positions in the Distribution, Automation and Electrical Engineering Departments.

Mr. McMann received a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the New York Institute of Technology in 1989, and a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Polytechnic University in 1990. He also completed a Masters degree in Telecommunications from Stony Brook University in 1998. He has been a member of the IEEE since 1987.

Mike Saunders
Mike Saunders joined Hibernia Atlantic from Level (3) as the VP of Business Development on April 2, 2008. Mike began his career in 1977 with Cable & Wireless in various roles including Satellite Policy and Planning and Satellite Operations. In 1986 he transferred to the Mercury business unit where he was responsible for Submarine Cable Planning for their international submarine, cable network capacity and was involved in the very first deployment of digital subsea cables throughout the late eighties and into the early/mid nineties. Mike spent time in the area of Product Development of Data Services with Mercury before moving to Nynex Cable Communications in Voice Product Development before returning back to C&W for further subsea cable deployment in the Asia/Pacific rim.

In September of 1998, Mr. Saunders joined Level (3) as their Director of Business Development. Upon his arrival, Mike significantly impacted the build-out of Level (3)’s European and Asian Network(s). Since then, he has led product management for their subsea service portfolio as well as managed their substantial transatlantic assets.

 

Derek Bullock

Mr. Bullock has been part of the Hibernia Cable story since its build phase, as far back as 2001. He has risen through the company to his present position and has an intimate knowledge of every aspect of the system, from the cable station physical infrastructure to the submarine cable systems. He is expert in Nortel, Opera, Sycamore, Tycom and a host of other OSS's, as well as being the design architect of our in-house IT systems.

Derek studied for the NDEC Diploma/Degree in Information Technology, National Distance Education Centre, Dublin City University and also holds a host of Cisco and Nortel Accreditations.

JAMES P. PRENETTA, JR.

GENERAL COUNSEL

Mr. Prenetta is General Counsel for the Company.   Prior to joining the Company in September 2009, Mr. Prenetta served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for One Communications which was created in June 2006 from the combination of CTC Communications Corp. (for whom Mr. Prenetta served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary from December 2003 to June 2006), Choice One Communications and Conversent Communications.

Prior to joining CTC Communications, Mr. Prenetta was Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Viatel Holding (Bermuda) Limited and its predecessor Viatel, Inc., a provider of  integrated telecommunications services to individuals, corporations, internet service providers, applications services providers and other communications carriers in Europe and North America.  Prior to joining Viatel in July 1999, Mr. Prenetta was a partner in the securities practice group at Kelley Drye & Warren LLP, New York, New York, where he represented both corporations and underwriters in transactions involving SEC registered issues of debt and equity securities, including initial public offerings, shelf offerings, Rule 144A offerings, private placements and friendly tender offers.  Prior to joining Kelley Drye in November 1994, Mr. Prenetta was an associate at Mudge Rose Guthrie Alexander & Ferdon, New York, New York.

Mr. Prenetta received his undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut (B.A., summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, 1984) and his law degree from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law (J.D. 1987), where he was the student editor-in-chief of the Journal of Contemporary Health Law and Policy and a graduate of the  Communications Law Institute.  Mr. Prenetta is admitted to practice law in the States of Connecticut, New York and the District of Columbia and is a Member of the Institute of Directors in the United Kingdom.

   

NIAMH KELLY

HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR

Niamh Kelly joined the Hibernia Atlantic team in January 2009 as the Human Resources Director.  Prior to this, Ms. Kelly worked for and continues to support Hibernia’s sister company Magnet Networks.  Ms. Kelly joined Magnet Networks in March 2007 from SiTEL, where she was HR Manager, and prior to that worked in British Telecom as HR Business Partner. Her previous experience includes strategic programmes involving culture change, reward scheme rollout, re-organisations along with M&A & Outsourcing activities.

Ms. Kelly holds BA Honours from UCD and an HR Degree from NCI. She is Chartered MCIPD and has over ten years experience managing Human Resources.
